Artist Statement: Having been raised by two artists, I always anticipated my rebellious streak to lead me down a different path with not so many artsy folk and perhaps a regular paycheck at the end. In college, as algerbra seened infinitely impossible to pass, I filled my transcripts with art history, music history and studio classes, eventually resulting in an Art Studies degree from Arizona State University.
Coming to terms with the inevitable, I married an artist and fully embraced my painting as well as my upbringing in the southwest and my passion for art history. The result has been pieces that seek to capture a specteum of color and mosaic-like representation iconic and classical imagery. Although I had eschewed any future for the college algebra I struggled through, my paintings are precise and mathematical; driven by measured color ratios and exacting fragmentation.
