Jeanne Mahaffey's work is deliberate.  For her a painting is not to recreate some internal feeling, it is a blueprint intended to generate the viewer's feelings. For Ms. Mahaffey the painting must be in some way symbolically truthful, precise, specific and luminous. If it qualifies in all those respects, the painting is carefully endorsed with her signature and released to the framer.
